I can't remember a time when I was able to login to AOL without having at least 2-3 pop-up ads offering anything from software, to hardware, to services.
I can understand why AOL may have a lot of unhappy users.
Other websites also stand to lose since they may not be able to assure advertisers that their pop-up ads are being seen.
Earthlink is planning on more frequent upgrades to its access software, aiming for two a year.
The last major upgrade to its access software was in 1999. Earthlink is definitely targeting AOL users with its release of an ad blocker in its access software.
Total Access 2003 can be downloaded from the Earthlink website and is intended for the ISP's dial-up and broadband users.
The pop-up ad blocker is actually an add-on which is downloaded separately.
