Education is key to social and economic empowerment.
Discovery Learning Alliance (DLA) is a non-profit organization using the power of media to transform education and improve lives in developing areas.
Section 35WW of Chapter 193 of the Acts of 2012 mandates that the Fund must “assist with the training of animal control officers consistent with Section 151C of GL Chapter 140.” Section 51 of Chapter 193 of the Acts of 2012 requires that all animal control officers must be trained within 24 months of the effective date of the act, subject to the availability of funds.
Together with public and private sector partners, we are improving student learning and teacher effectiveness in the classroom, reaching millions through mass media distribution and empowering communities with transformative educational opportunities.Without adequate resources, schools struggle to provide quality education.Animal control officers (ACOs) have important responsibilities, including dealing with dangerous dogs, responding to reports of stray animals, and enforcing leash law violations. In addition, they often care for and adopt out sheltered animals and many deal with wildlife conflicts.
DLA equips resource-limited schools with sustainable technology – such as a TV and DVD player – and provides specialized training to ensure its maintenance and maximize its effectiveness in the classroom. DLA helps teachers improve their skills and confidence with extensive teacher training on leadership, student-centered learning, gender responsive pedagogy, media-supported education, parent engagement and more.
Leveraging Discovery’s world-class programming, DLA creates award-winning videos that bring learning to life.
